Food, Glorious Food!
Published July 28.
Not the cooked varieties you find in supermarkets all year round, I am referring to food, of the "Home Produced" sort. You know, the varieties you toil over, cultivating for months, and months, at specific times throughout the year.
Ok Baldi, but, why?
Because, I believe planting and tending to our own "Home Grown" Fruit and Vegetables, not only improves our awareness, allows for greater freedom of choice, promotes better connections with nature, produces less waste and pollution, but crucially, I believe the process promotes both physical, and mental wellbeing.
Some advantages I find, are, "Home Grown Produce" is a lot healthier, far more nutritious, fresher, potentially cheaper, and contains less chemicals, which I feel is better for our our bodies, planet, and biodiversity. I also find my own "Home Grown" Fruits and Vegetables to be more sustainable, and better tasting. Plus, I find growing my own is a very satisfying, and rewarding hobby, keeping me both mentally, and physically fit.
However, a major downside is, you will only be able to eat certain Fruits and Vegetables at set times during the year, unless, you freeze your "Home Produce". Pss...we freeze some of our Tomatoes for use during the Winter months for Soups, and bases of other healthy meals.
I hear you say, Baldi, what are you currently growing?
Great question! At the moment I am enjoying "Home Grown"
Figs,
and, Strawberries,
and looking forward to,
plenty of Tomatoes,
along with,
Aubergines, just as Mother Nature intended, when they are in season, leading me to ask,
What goals have you set yourself for August?
Until next time, thanks for reading!
Are You Hungry
Published 21 July.
If, like me, you have a big appetite, enjoy reasonable priced superb food, with great service, and, a lively atmosphere, I can thoroughly recommend
"Rapscallions", a Pirate themed Bar, located in the heart of Southsea, Hampshire, U.K.
Appropriately decorated
serving a wide range of delicious "Grub", and "Grog" for all occasions.
From a very different,
but truly inspiring interior,
to an extensive, fun, pirate themed menu, ranging from "Brunch", "Light Bites", a full hearty meal, to "Happy Hour", "Rapscallions" has something for everyone.
With "Grub", and "Grog" this good, perhaps one evening we will bump into each other. Until then, thanks for reading!
