The Language of Music

How do you think of Music? Is it something there, in the background? Is it a quiet backdrop helping you learn and achieve more from life? Do you find listening to Music, and/or playing your instrument inspirational? Is it life? Or perhaps Music has played a vital role in helping save your life?

For me, Baldi, A.K.A. Amonn AL-Mahrouq, Music represents all of them and more.

Why Music Matters

From a very early age, Music and Musical Performance formed a large part of my life. Little did I know my early immersion and subsequent full-time study of Music, Wind Instruments and Performance would later play such a crucial role.

Music for me represents far more than just sounds, chords or notes printed on a page. It is my rhythm and way of life; the ultimate universal language, allowing me to communicate deep emotions where spoken words fail. I find its structure helps me learn faster, focus more effectively and inspires me to achieve more.

Music as a Universal Language

I believe Music has untapped healing powers. Not only does it bring communities together, but it can also help accelerate the healing of both body and mind.

This belief is why I am on a lifelong mission to ensure the languages of Music and Musical Performance gain their rightful places alongside Figure Skating, Spoken Languages, Swimming and Cycling in education worldwide.

One of my latest inspirational finds is "14 Sonatas for Keyboard", from "The Fitzwilliam Collection", composed by the 18th Century Spanish Composer, Antonio Soler.

Photo of the cover of 14 keyboard Sonatas by Soler for Solo Piano. Photo taken in February 2026 by Baldi, A.K.A Amonn AL-Mahrouq.

A contemporary of Haydn, Gluck, and C.P.E Bach, Soler lived between the Late Baroque and Early Classical Periods of Musical History from 1729 until 1783.

Have you, or any of your students played, or performed any of his works? If not, they inspire me to practice, and perform in public more. Fingers crossed they inspire you, and your students too!

If you've not yet be inspired by Soler Compositions, then I suggest beginning by learning his Sonatas in "C minor", or "Eb Major" before exploring his other inspiring Music.
